Position Summary:

The Director of Family Preservation Services position is responsible for providing strong, effective, innovative, and energetic leadership to programs and activities that focus on serving children and families. Oversees the program operations and ensures programs are consistent with their purpose as well as the mission, vision and values of the Agency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·      Directs and supervises family preservation programs. 

·      Ensure all PQI processes are in place and reported in a timely manner including compliance with funding source contracts, performance expectations and for COA and HFA standards.

·      Plans and implements effective record keeping and data collection systems. 

·      Monitors programs and staff for contract compliance and productivity standards. 

·      Prepares and analyzes periodic program reports on a regular basis, which includes program statistics, outcomes, and results. 

·      Prepare proposals for new grants, ITBs, RFPs, funding requests and contracts.

·      Develop annual program and tower goals and objectives that align with and support the Agency strategic plan.

·      Participate in groups, community activities such as interagency planning meetings, Michigan Federation for Children and Families networks, United Way and other management meetings with community partners across the 11 counties for the diocese of Grand Rapids as well as other locations that family preservation services are provided.

·      Supervise, evaluate and inspire program managers, supervisors and staff. Foster a total team attitude and culture.

·      Ensure compliance with Agency policies, procedures and protocols. Resolve personnel challenges with grace and efficiency.

·      Assists in recruiting, hiring, and training of new staff. 

·      Reviews, evaluates, and recommends policy and procedure revisions. 

·      Maintains policy and procedure notebooks for Agency departments.

·      Prepares records, staff performance reports, policy and procedures for program audits.

·      Schedules and coordinates staff educational development process.

·      Ensure all contract requirements and processes are met for all programs including but not limited to any corrective actions measures are completed and mandated reporter processes are followed.

·      Informs the CEO or designee of unsafe working conditions as well as clients and families who are experiencing child abuse, neglect, and suicidal or homicidal symptoms.

·      Assist the CFO in preparing annual budgets and monthly financial statements for the programs of Family Preservation Services.

·      Provide statistical reports and related information as required.

·      Attends meetings and training sessions as required.

·      Performs other assignments at supervisor’s request.

 

Employment Qualifications:

 

Education: 

This position requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related field in Human Services from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education or experience. 

 

Experience:

The position requires five to seven years’ experience in in-home family service programs and three years of supervisory experience.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

This position requires a valid Michigan Driver's license, a good driving record, and must provide a private vehicle to utilize for business while maintaining $100,000 to $300,000 liability insurance coverage on said personal vehicle. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does have supervisory responsibilities.
 

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: 

·      Knowledge of Family Preservation Programs along with the State laws and regulations applicable to those programs.

·      Thorough understanding of the developmental needs and social, emotional and behavioral challenges of children and adolescents served. 

·      Knowledge of the NASW Code of Ethics, the NASW Standards for the practice of direct social work, Catholic Charities USA Code of Ethics and the Agency's stated position on abortion.

·      Computer competency including high proficiency use of Microsoft Office Suite.

·      Ability to plan, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of supervisory and professional staff.

·      Ability to prepare and analyze reports, make presentations, and maintain records.

·      Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and concisely, both orally and in writing.

·      Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.

·      Ability to relate to diverse populations and cultures while communicating with clients and the public in a courteous and effective manner.

·      An understanding of and belief in the Agency’s mission, vision and values.

·      Maintain 24/7 availability for supervisors and staff, must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends as well as travel to multiple locations on a regular basis. 

·      Must submit to Agency approved background checks.
