Bookkeeper: Accounts Receivable & General Ledger
Child & Family Services of Northwestern Michigan has an immediate opening for
a full-time Bookkeeper. The Bookkeeper / Accountant works under the
supervision of the Finance Director or his/her designate. This position is
responsible for performing various accounting functions of the Agency, as
Qualifications: A minimum of two years of college bookkeeping, accounting, or
finance is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be substituted upon the
recommendation of the Finance Director. The successful applicant must be
proficient with the following office equipment: calculator (10-key), copier,
word processing, and overall computer skills with a working knowledge of
computer spreadsheet applications preferred (primarily Excel).
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Processes accounts receivable for foster care, adoption, counseling and
other as needed.
• Reconciles subsidiary ledgers for accounts payable and receivable.
• Prepares and posts various accounting journal entries.
• Reconciles various General Ledger accounts, as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned by the Finance Director or his/her designate.
The primary focus is the billing for Foster Care, Adoption and counseling.
Much of this is through the use of the State Of Michigan’s program MiSACWIS
and the Company’s Extended Reach data system pertaining to Child Welfare.
The secondary focus are the areas of: Asset and Depreciation accounting,
Prepaid insurances and expenses, Account reconciliations and our Annual
