Black Family Development, Inc.: Job Postings

bfdlogoBlack Family Development, Inc. (BFDI) is a private, non-profit comprehensive family counseling agency that was created in 1978 by the Detroit Chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers (DABSW). By establishing BFDI as a family counseling agency, DABSW sought to promote and provide quality social work services in Detroit that were culturally relevant and culturally sensitive. The original community project, which gave birth to BFDI, was based on the agreed upon needs of the community and resulted in programmatic focus by BFDI on child abuse and neglect. Since that time, BFDI has grown to accommodate the increasing demand for a variety of specialized, family focused counseling and advocacy services in the community.

Licensing Worker
Responsible for completing required paperwork and procedures concerning Renewal Foster Home Reports, Annual Foster Home Reports, and Special Evaluations of Foster Homes. Must have knowledge and understanding of the Child Protection law, and the ability to work a flexible schedule. Must have at least three (3) years experience. Must have documentation of completion of Bureau of Adult and Children’s Licensing Training. Masters Degree preferred.
Licensing Supervisor
Must have completed State of Michigan Child Care Licensing Trainings and Certifications. Must have three (3) to five (5) years supervising Licensing consultants. Must have strong clinical skills with five (5) years of behavioral health treatment experience. Must have at least three (3) years managerial experience. Masters Degree Required.

Youth Advocate (Sub)GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Youth Advocates are currently needed for Afternoons, Evenings, and Overnights in residential treatment programs. Sub positions with the potential to lead to Full and Part time with excellent benefits and regular pay increases. Applicants must possess a strong desire to work with emotionally impaired youth ages 5 to 17 and be available to participate in required training. Some weekend and holiday work required. Insure that all residents are closely monitored and supervised at all times on and off grounds. Participate in planning and implementing the activities of the living units and individual resident. Insure that all specific duties unique to each work shift are completed (e.g. groups, laundry, meal duties, unit cleaning, etc.). Regularly transports clients for medical appointments, recreation outings and activities and other appointments or activities as scheduled.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have experience working with youth. High school diploma or equivalent required, with some college preferred. Must have a valid drivers license and good driving record.
