STATE LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES

STATE EXECUTIVE/ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITIES
• Auditor General believes DHS should improve implementation, monitoring and evaluation of training programs (including private agency adoption and foster care workers)
FEDERATION MEMBER NEWS
• New Affiliate and Individual members—Catholic Charities of West Michigan has been approved by the Federation’s Executive Committee for Affiliate membership! Catholic Charities of West Michigan is headed by President/CEO Deborah McCormack. Deborah most recently served as President/CEO of Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties, a long-standing Federation Full member. We have two new Individual memberships to announce: Herman McCall, Senior VP/COO for Starr Commonwealth, and Jody Grutza, recent Master’s-level Federation intern. Prior to her internship with the Federation, Jody was a Foster Care Supervisor with Lutheran Child & Family Service of Michigan. Welcome Deborah, Herman and Jody, and thank you for supporting the Federation!
• Affiliate and Individual member renewals—Aileen Gow, Executive Director of Urban Options has renewed her organization’s Affiliate membership. Urban Options is a nonprofit community agency, which provides energy and environmental information and services. Urban Options seeks to improve the environmental quality of our urban spaces through educational programs and demonstrations of practical and healthful home and yard improvements. Individuals who have renewed their Individual memberships include: Denise Kaiser, Program Manager at Lutheran Child & Family Service of Michigan; George Goodman, retired Executive Director of Michigan Municipal League and current Board member of Starr Commonwealth; Nick VanZanten, Director of Performance Management Systems for Lutheran Social Services of Michigan; Roger Pickering, Regional Director for Lutheran Child & Family Service of Michigan and Ron Apol, Adoption Department Coordinator at D.A.
